Foundation for quilt sampler

I decided that I want to do a quilt sampler piece to document the finished product of this yearlong challenge, so last night I dug out some hand dyes we did years ago, and put together one of the layout suggestions. I'm trying to decide whether or not to use all one color thread (black) or choose a different contrasting thread for each block. Any suggestions? Feel free to weigh in!

    Either way will be nice, but I think it would be fun to do the stitching all in black! This is lovely fabric - how great that you already have the quilt top together for that SewCalGal challenge. I have such a hard time basting, I decided to do each as a framed block - will join together with the directions I get from Laura and her FMQAYGQAL challenge...
